Theaters and cinemas in Karachi have been restored, these days Anwar Maqsood's play is being presented in Arts Council on August 14 and a half, before that it was also presented on Pune 14 and August 14.
The main characters of the drama are Jinnah and Gandhi, but the character of Natkhat Gandhi is gaining popularity due to his catchphrases and acting, while the beautiful British accent and suit boots of the founder of Pakistan are also getting a lot of appreciation.
The role of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi is played by Tanveer Gul, who has been associated with Thread for many years.
In an exclusive conversation with Geo Digital, Tanveer told about his casting that theaters were closed due to Corona, there was no work, during which the director and Mahmood offered to play the role of Gandhi and asked him to lose weight.
Tanveer said that playing the role of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was difficult for him, he had to sit with elders, try to copy his body language, watch old videos of Gandhi, study his speaking style. What, let down the hair to do the role when I was told to do the make-up but I preferred to work on myself instead of the make-up in order to match him with the real Gandhi and since the preparation of the play started. Since then I have been traveling on a bike without a helmet so that the color of the body resembles that of Gandhi.
Earlier, Tanveer has also acted in theater plays 'Kyun Nakala' and 'Nach Na Jaane'.
An attempt has been made to bring Jinnah shown in the play closer to the youth. The character of the founder of Pakistan does not have punch lines like Gandhi, but the serious and bold aspects of his personality are forcing the audience to applaud.
Umar Qazi, who played the role of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, is a professional theater artist and has performed internationally, but this is his first theater performance in Pakistan.
In an exclusive interview with GeoDigital, he said that he was selected for the role through a voice note, looking for an actor who could speak a British accent for the character of Jinnah.
