Dozens of cases of a completely new virus have emerged in China

A new virus has emerged in China that has sickened dozens of people so far.

Scientists have started monitoring this new virus, which has been named Langya henipaviral.

The virus was first discovered in Shandong and Hainan in 2018, but scientists formally identified it in a study last week.

Scientists say that this virus may have been transmitted from animals to humans.

After examining the wild animals, the researchers discovered the viral RNA of the Lewy virus in a quarter of 262 shrews.

He said that these animals may harbor the virus, in fact they discovered the virus in domesticated sheep and dogs.

The results of preliminary research in this regard were published in the medical journal New England Journal of Medicine.

Experts from China, Singapore and Australia participated in the study and reported that people infected with the virus develop symptoms such as fever, fatigue, cough, loss of appetite and muscle pain.

The study further reported that all those infected with the virus developed a fever which resolved after a few days.

The researchers said that no patient has died from the virus and no one has become seriously ill so far, so there is no need to worry.

He said that it is not clear whether this virus can be transmitted from one person to another or not.

So far, 35 cases of the virus have been detected, most of whom were farmers, while the rest were factory workers.

Because the numbers are so small, it is not easy to determine the spread of the disease from one person to another, the researchers said.

The Lewy virus is very similar to the Mujiang virus, which was discovered in southern China.

Epidemiologists have been warning for years that the climate crisis has increased the risk of animal-to-human transmission of viruses.
