World War II sunken warship recovered from drought-prone river in Serbia

The wreckage of a World War II warship has been recovered after the water level dropped in the drought-prone Danube River.

The ship was part of the Black Sea Fleet of the Nazi German Navy in 1944 and sank in the Danube River after being attacked by Soviet forces.

The wreckage of a World War II explosives-laden German battleship has been found near the river port of Prahovo, Serbia, after the water level in the Danube River receded.

Due to the severe heat and lack of rains in Europe in recent months, the water level in the Danube River has fallen to the lowest level in the last century, which has caused the water flow between Germany, Italy, France and other European countries. Progress has been severely affected, but authorities in Serbia have restored navigation channels to maintain water traffic on the Danube.

The Serbian government has issued tenders worth 30 million dollars for the safe disposal of shipwrecks and explosives from the Danube River.
